HOW IT WORKS
Clinical-grade vitamin A, otherwise known as retinoic acid, is an exceptionally powerful skincare ingredient for youthful-looking skin. Highly potent and wildy efficacious, it helps reduce the visible signs of ageing. Retinoic acid is only available with a prescription, but vitamin A is available over the counter in the form of retinol skincare products. Retinol has similar effects to retinoic acid, however it must first be converted to retinaldehyde and then to retinoic acid to be used by the skin. Crafted with retinaldehyde, Crystal Retinal 6 requires just one conversion to retinoic acid. This means that it is able to produce results comparable to retinoic acid up to 11 times faster than classic forms of retinol. The advanced active is carefully encapsulated in a crystal structure that is broken down by the skin’s natural enzymes when topically applied. This ensures maximum stability and absorption while allowing the vitamin A active to be released gradually into the skin while you sleep for minimal irritation. Combined with hydrating hyaluronic acid and skin-soothing vitamin E, Crystal Retinal 6 targets fine lines and wrinkles for smooth and visibly youthful skin. Unlike other forms of vitamin A, retinaldehyde boasts direct, powerful antibacterial properties. This allows it to target acne-causing bacteria; promoting a healthy, visibly clear complexion.

Patented Stability Matters
The more stable the molecule, the more effective it can be on the skin. Crystal Retinal offers a level of retinal stability that is only found at Medik8: our innovative stability system features our renowned crystal encapsulation and a patent-pending formula complex. The dual-layered stability system comes together to protect the retinal molecule for unmatched potency and long-lasting effectiveness.
Ladder Up
Always peak, never plateau. Ladder up your results with 5 available strengths: 1, 3, 6, 10 and 20. Most customers start on Crystal Retinal 3 (for skincare beginners) or 6 (for experienced skincare users), then over time move up to 10.
Top tip! Crystal Retinal is also the perfect vitamin A for those wanting to target the appearance of blemishes and congestion due to retinal’s unique antibacterial action on the skin.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND
“After years of research and experimentation, we cracked the retinal code in 2018 with a unique stabilisation discovery. Our reinforced stability system involves two formulation techniques. First, we protected the powerful yet fragile molecule with a crystal encapsulation that works to both blanket the retinal and time-release it onto our skin gradually throughout the night to minimise any potential for irritation. We then fortified this with a patent-pending stabilisation formula complex, which is unique to Medik8, to ensure the retinal is stabilised throughout its whole life cycle - from raw material, all the way onto our skin. This means that your Crystal Retinal remains powerful from the first application, to the very last".
Daniel Isaacs, Director of Research.
